Soto ALG Participants Explore the Caribbean on a 5-Day Cruise

On Saturday October 1st Soto ALG participants, accompanied by staff, set sail on the Carnival Fascination for a five day Caribbean Cruise. The trip took them from the port of Jacksonville to the Carnival owned island of Half Moon Cay then to Nassau, Bahamas. Individuals were grouped in three's with their customary traveling buddies and assigned a cabin for the week. For some this was their 3rd cruise since being with Soto ALG and the familiarity showed as they knew to go right to the Lido Deck upon boarding for cheeseburgers and chicken tenders. Many in the group who take part in the Supported Employment Program had money saved from their paychecks to buy souvenirs for themselves and gifts for family members. Following 5 days of flip flops, water slides, dancing, all you can eat buffets, the wonderment of the bottomless soda card, and plenty of tropical weather & destinations have participants asking "When is the next trip?" Soto ALG is looking for local businesses & organizations to partner with in it's supported employment program. Partners enter into a contract with Soto ALG where participants, accompanied by a job coach, perform work duties for the partnering organization. Soto ALG handles payroll & workers' compensation responsibilities.

Soto ALG Announces Plans for New Residences

Soto ALG is currently in the process of expanding it's residential program to two additional locations. One of these residences will be an all female home in the Taliaferro/Wilkes County area. The second will be a mixed gender home designed specifically for individuals with behavior needs.
